· Duties include:
Fluent English. Supporting people with physical and social activities, such as eating, drinking, and showering
Helping with personal care, such as shaving and oral hygiene
Monitoring health by taking temperature, pulse, respiration, and weight
Assisting with medication
Booking and accompanying people to appointments
Providing emotional support and companionship
Respecting clients' privacy, dignity, and individuality
Providing practical and emotional support to individuals, families, and communities
Helping to protect and promote people's wellbeing
Working under the supervision of a qualified social worker or case manager
Certification or training in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is desirable but not essential.
Training in safe patient handling and movement is desirable but not essential.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to understand and follow policies and procedures.
Assist clients with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and toileting.
Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming and changing bed clothes.
Assist in the safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of clients.
Accompanied clients to medical appointments.
Observe, monitor and record clients’ physical and emotional well-being and promptly report any changes to senior staff.
Encourage clients to participate in social and recreational activities.
Relevant experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities/autism
Have excellent communication skills.
Have the ability to listen and respond to the needs of people who use services.
Have the ability to be innovative and creative and work on one’s initiative.
Be computer literate.
